Philippe De Clerck (1987) is an architect, co-founder of DEVspace. Philippe has been a recurrent researcher within the ULB Architecture Faculty since 2010, taking part in various projects regarding participatory processes and co-organizing the Brussels Master Classes editions 2011 to 2013. He is a doctoral researcher within the Louise and Sasha laboratories since 2013. His research investigates the impact of space, both designed and perceived, in collective practices of housing decommodification. How does the space itself, generated by a community, enter a dialectic relation with that same community as a self-generated conditioning of spatial behaviour? The research is an atempt to enrich the spatial vocabulary of architecture through concrete cases of activist commoning practices, on the crossroads of design, participation and appropriation.
